A BEWDLEY woman soon to retire from her post as a music teacher and deputy head has been given a prestigious lifetime achievement award.
Heather Fairs, who has been a music teacher at Hagley's Haybridge High School for 25 years and deputy head since 1977, said she was delighted to be given the award by the West Midland section of the Teacher Awards.
Mrs Fairs who has also taught at Hartlebury Grammar School and St Mary's First School in Kidderminster, will now be considered for a national award which will be decided in October at a London awards ceremony.
She has taken pupils on trips all over the world and will make her final one, to South Africa, in July.
"I shall be in tears," said Mrs Fairs, of Highclere. She was nominated for the award by former pupils and parents.
