PERSHORE'S James Calado scored a sensational second place in round three of the Super One National Kart Championship at Rowrah in Cumbria on Sunday.
The Ford Racing Young Gun enjoyed a day-long battle with rival Daniel Rowbottom, the pair crossing the line side-by-side in their first heat of the day, with the result going to Rowbottom by less than a hundredth of a second.
Calado picked up a third and a seventh in his other heats and, as a result, started the day's A final in third place on the grid.
A change of sprocket for the final and the 12-year-old karting ace was quickly up to second place and once again, right on the tail of 'O' Plate Champion Rowbottom.
The 'Young Gun' pursued him throughout the 12-lap final but couldn't quite fine a way past, crossing the line just six-hundredths of a second adrift.
Frustrated not to have been able to take maximum points, Calado said: "Daniel and I were really flying today, and I wish I could have got past him like he did to me earlier in the season but it wasn't to be.
"I've found my pace again after Larkhall and feel I can go all the way in both championships."
