BARNARDS Green Sunday 1st XI recorded their first win in the Worcestershire Clubs Sunday League at North End Lane beating Evesham by eight wickets.

BARNARDS GREEN 1ST XI v EVESHAM 1ST XI

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat and made a steady start taking the total to 65 before Hall retired unwell on a very hot day.

Paul Drinkwater and Brad Adams had toiled away without any luck, both beating the bat several times, but the introduction of skipper Andy Lamb saw Evesham's middle order of Bailey, Shorey and the in-form Clements fall in quick succession.

When Dick Brown lured Cadwallader from his crease Evesham had slumped from 85-0 to 103-5. Tim Clarke succeeded Brown at the North End Lane end and in a much improved display kept things tight in taking 3-30 and Brad Adams got his due reward as Hall returned only to be snapped up by the veteran Rogers to leave Evesham on 185-8 off their 45 overs.

On a drying wicket, Rich Williams and the recalled Kevin Golder paced their innings sensibly treating the bowling of Langston in particular on its merits, until with the score on 85 in the 21st over Golder's hard hit return catch was deflected onto the wicket to leave Williams unluckily run out. Ten runs later Golder was well held on the boundary: this left the Green with 95 to make off the remaining 23 overs. Whilst Divito and Drinkwater both survived a chance the target was reached with ease with five overs to spare, Divito making a restrained 38 and Drinkwater an entertaining 48.

On Sunday the Green entertain Pershore at North End Lane, start 2pm.
