DESPITE an excellent unbeaten century by Dave Powell, Colwall conceded their league home record on Saturday as Hatherley & Reddings gained a 31 run win.

COLWALL v HATHERLEY & REDDINGS

Batting first, Hatherley took the initiative early on as Bray and Nally set up a quick opening 40 partnership. This matched with a poor Colwall fielding performance meant the visitors were able to go on and make a fine 226-8.

James Wagstaff took 2-67 off his 15 overs and Dave Sutton 2-70 but the impressive Bray played well for his 51 runs. His contribution and Constantine and Gorick's (43) sixth wicket pairing of 63 were the mainstay of the Hatherley innings and although Will Hards and Stuart Bailey came back to take a wicket apiece Colwall couldn't halt the large total.

Dave Powell's century was the highlight of a disappointing defeat for Colwall as the home side fell 31 runs short in their 50 overs. Following his 78 the previous week, Powell continued his rich vein of form with a patient 102no. His score though couldn't stop Gidman going on to take 5-57 even after a 65 opening partnership with Barney Bamford.

Crucially Colwall fell from 65-1 to 81-4 as Gidman dominated with the ball and although Hards and Steve Ferguson pushed the run rate up late on Colwall were always just short of what was required.
