A TEN man Sunday XI were destined to spend a long afternoon in the field and despite two relatively early successes they were worn down by T Weston (104) his maiden century and A Spencer (82no) making 262 off their 40 overs.
NEWLAND SUNDAY XI v PEDMORE SUNDAY XI
Newland went after the total with gusto, C Genever (66), C R Leech (72) put on 113 for the first wicket but with the exception of R Williams (30) the remaining batsmen could not keep the momentum going and they finished 46 runs short. For Pedmore 13 year old C Lacey, 3-30, was the best bowler.
Both sides fielded younger members of the clubs and despite the stifling heat they all played well.
