AFTER winning the toss for the third week running, Ramblers' captain Andy Croft opted to bat first.
MALVERN RAMBLERS SUNDAY 2ND XI v OVERBURY
After a steady start by Ramblers' openers D Sharp and J Jauncey the first wicket fell at 38. Jauncey was the first to go, D Sharp played some nice shots for his 20. O Sawle and S Walker came together and put on 78 for the third wicket, Sawle going for a fine 31 and then Walker was bowled for one short of his 50 and a late flurry of runs by the lower order. Ramblers finished on 188-9 off their 40 overs.
Overbury made a steady start. N Dennis got the important wicket of P Gillett caught behind by Walker for 21 and at 103-7 Ramblers looked favourites. R Bird bowled a good spell taking 3-14 off eight overs but then J Harker came to the crease and started to hit the ball to all parts of the ground and at 160-7 with five overs to go it looked possible that Overbury could win.
A Croft then bowled Harker for 42 and the innings fell apart as Overbury were finally all out for 168. A good spell was bowled by Besgrove taking 2-25 off eight overs.
Ramblers, who are sponsored by Automated Packaging Systems, winning by 20 runs.
