I want to go back to the time when...
Nobody said "swear-words" on television, radio or in movies
"Race issue" meant arguing about who ran the fastest
Neighbours let you climb their big trees
You could walk anywhere in the whole town and be safe
Money issues were handled by the banker in Monopoly
Cheating, lying and stealing were not clever
Catching the fireflies could happily occupy an entire evening
It wasn't odd to have two or three "best" friends
A fight could end immediately by one fighter saying "Uncle"
Being old referred to anyone over 20
Everyone had a Mum and Dad at home
Having a weapon in school meant being caught with a peashooter
Getting a foot of snow was a dream come true
Playing cards in the spokes transformed any bike into a motorcycle
Taking drugs meant orange-flavoured chewable aspirin.
JOHN HEPWORTH,
Malvern.
