KEY witnesses have come forward in the hunt for Sorren Prosser's killer, police have revealed.

The 26-year-old was punched and hit in the head as he tried to break up a kebab shop brawl in Evesham more than a week ago. He died in hospital on Thursday.

Twenty West Mercia police officers spent Friday night questioning more than 100 revellers in the town centre.

Their search focused around the Bodrum Kebab and Pizza House where the fight broke out at 2am on Saturday, October 6.

"We've had a relatively successful response from people, many of whom were near the kebab house at the time of the incident," said Sgt Keith Wheel, of Worcester police.

"We have identified a number of people from the evening's work that we will definitely be speaking to later."

Police handed out question forms and put up posters of the incident report as part of the anniversary check.

Several groups were thought to have been in the area at the time.

Mr Prosser, of Cornmill, Elmley Castle, was with friends and had visited several pubs before ending up in the Green Dragon. He then made his way from the Oat Street pub to the takeaway.

Five people have been arrested. Three have been charged with offences including causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

A sixth person arrested on Thursday has been released pending further enquiries.

A major incident room has been set up at Castle Street station and officers are still appealing for witnesses to come forward.
