A DRUNKEN woman who brandished a 12-inch carving knife at her neighbour has been jailed for five months.

Jacqueline Harrison was confronted by neighbour Colin Elkstone after a bottle of cider went missing from his Worcester flat.

A previous hearing at Droitwich Magistrates Court was told that Harrison lost her temper and grabbed a knife from her kitchen.

Mr Elkstone accused Harrison of stealing the bottle from his unlocked flat as she was the only one who would go in without knocking.

Susan Cliff, of the Crown Prosecution Service, had told the court that the pair used to drink together.

"She was seen coming out of her flat with a carving knife, saying she was going to sort him out," Mrs Cliff said last month.

The 38-year-old, of Wheatfield Court, off Bath Road, admitted the charge of assault causing actual bodily harm.

"She had no intention of stabbing him," said Charles Hobbs, defending last month.

"He took the knife from her with the minimum of effort."
