WORCESTER Wolves lost 75-66 in their National Trophy clash at Liverpool yesterday.

From the beginning of the game the Wolves seemed out of sorts and found themselves trailing in the early stages.

Rhys Hocking was unavailable and French ace Vinsonneau was still obviously struggling from his injured ankle.

Player-coach Rick Solvason offered some resistance together with Chiverton and Livingston, yet the Wolves continually missed easy opportunities and at times were lethargic defensively.

Gareth France was introduced in the second half to make his debut and showed some promising signs yet the Liverpool outfit dominated the boards at both ends of the court.

There was some hope of a fightback in the last quarter and Worcester pulled the game back to within two points.

Next week Worcester entertain Teeside Mohawks, last year's Trophy and Conference champions.

They have been beating all of their opponents by 50 points or more so far this season.

The Wolves paid for switching off after last week's heroics and they will have to rekindle their best fighting spirit for next week's challenge.

It is still a big learning process in this senior competition as the Wolves prepare for their Division One adventure starting on November 10.

Solvason said: "We cannot complain about the result. We left our game and our positive attitude back in Worcester and lost a game we had the ability to win. It was very disappointing".

Scorers: Chiverton 26, Solvason 25, Livingston 6, Brennan 4,Gordon 4, Vinsonneau 1, S. France, G. France, Maraguitas.
