TREVOR Baylis OBE was guest of honour at the recent launch of the Education Business Link Consortium for Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

The inventor of the wind-up radio, best known for his appearance on Channel 4's Big Breakfast, unveiled the identity of the new organisation that will facilitate education and business partnership activity in the two counties.

The launch of the Chamber of Commerce, Herefordshire and Worcestershire, initiative was held at The Abbey Hotel, in Malvern, last week and was attended by Worcester MP, Michael Foster.

The chamber's chief executive, Christine Jones, explained the aims and objectives of the new organisation, which will facilitate education and business partnership activity in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

Businesses and schools also attended, with some exhibiting education business partnership projects as examples of the partnership's work in action.

"The Chamber of Commerce has recruited a team of five who will deliver a number of activities and programmes to improve links between education and business and to enable those organisations involved to reap the rewards and benefits afforded them," said the chamber's development manager, Ivor Ballard.
