FORMER Worcester City defender Mark Shail is set to take over from injured Adie Smith for tonight's LDV Vans Trophy first round clash against Doncaster Rovers at Belle Vue (7.45).

Smith is ruled out with a groin problem, sparking a call-up for Shail who was on the substitutes' bench for Saturday's goalless Nationwide League Division Three draw with Cheltenham Town.

Midfielder Mark Blake is also available again after completing a one-match ban for picking up five bookings. Likely to be included as a sub is central defender Abdou Sall.

Harriers boss Jan Molby is warning his players that they face a tricky tie against the Rovers who are in sixth spot in the Nationwide Conference.

He said: "It's going to be difficult as they are going well. I'm sure that if we had been a Conference side still and drawn somebody in the bottom six in the Third Division we would have fancied our chances.

"Certainly Doncaster will fancy their chances, so that's going to make it a tough game. They will try and rattle us, get stuck in so it's a tricky game that's for sure.

"They are one of the better Conference sides. They have got a big squad and a lot of good players.

"They have spent over £100,000 on a striker in Justin Jackson from Rushden & Diamonds, so their intentions are pretty clear that they want to get back into the Football League.

"The Trophy, though, is one of those where if you are in the area semi-final or final then it's a big cup competition. But until you actually reach there I think it's one of those we all look at with a little bit of a shall we, shan't we give it a real go.

"But it would be nice to go up there and score a few goals and get some confidence and whatever team we put out we'll approach it as professionally as we can."

Meanwhile, former Aggborough favourite Thomas Skovbjerg has decided to quit football.

The 26-year-old Danish winger, who played a mjor role in Harriers' Conference title-winning squad, battled back to fitness late last season after a 12-month lay-off due to a damaged cruciate ligament.

He returned to Denmark in the summer but Molby says Skovbjerg, who had been on trial with Danish Superleague side Aarhus, felt he was no longer able to meet his high standards.

Molby said: "Although Thomas got himself fit again, he felt he could not do himself justice any more and has decided to call it a day."
