The visitors had to withstand some early pressure but coped well with anything their Conference hosts could throw at them.
After the first quarter of an hour Harriers then took up the initiative and Tony Bird whipped over a couple of inviting crosses from the right that came to nothing.
Much of the game was being contested in the midfield with both defences on top.
Harriers won a free-kick on the edge of the box on 23 minutes after Barrick brought down Bird but Shilton's low set-piece was directed straight at keeper Richardson whose handling did not let him down.
