A FIFTEEN-year-old girl has been killed after the car in which she was travelling plummeted 30ft down an embankment.

The teenager, who was a back seat passenger in the Ford Orion, was taken to Hereford General Hospital after the accident on the A44 Leominster to Worcester road, near Bromyard, last night, but died later in hospital.

The male driver and front seat passenger, who are both believed to be from Bromyard, were also treated for injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening.

No other vehicles were involved.

Georgie Bates, a spokeswoman for Hereford police, said it was not yet known why the car, which was travelling towards Bromyard and Worcester, left the road at Linton at around 9.40pm.

"We're appealing for witnesses, and particularly a woman who made an emergency call at the time of the incident," she said.

"She is a key witness who could shed some light on this."

The teenager has not been named.
