COMMUNITY leaders have set aside £50,000 for Lido Pool legal fees.
Wychavon District Council needs the cash to ensure plans to create a multi-million pound spa centre, with private company, Calypso, run smoothly.
At a full council meeting on Tuesday October 9, members agreed to allocate up to £50,000 to employ independent legal advisors required to study plans.
And councillors have granted officers permission to set up a formal partnership between Wychavon and Anglo-German company Calypso.
Public consultations are not expected until November and campaigners, who have been sceptical about moves to revamp the historic site, believe Wycha-von should let residents have their say before allocating taxpayers' cash.
The authority says the cash allocation is there to ensure its, and the public's position, is protected.
