WHAT a courageous letter from Tom Wareing in which he recommends Christian methods be attempted to solve the present international crisis (Advertiser, October 10). After all, traditional violence has failed at each essay in the past.

His letter is not only animated by Christian charity but also by sound common sense which, after all, is no stranger to Christian ethics.

As he intimates, the present aggression against a well-nigh defenceless, poverty-stricken Third World state is not only lunatic but immoral.

As it widens the horizons of violence, it is only storing up trouble for the future as it creates more avenging terrorists.

I congratulate Mr Wareing but few, I fear, who read his letter - including some clergymen - will pay much attention to it.
