KINGS Norton captain Mark Waudby and coach Rory McLean took time out to take a look at a number of fringe players at the weekend.

A planned first team friendly was called off because of opponents Five Ways Old Edwardians' Junior Cup commitments.

But the clubs' respective seconds and thirds did battle with Kings twice victorious and the captain took the chance to do a bit of scouting.

As a result, seconds team second row Phil Fergus is set to be promoted to the first team squad for the visit of Droitwich on Saturday (ko 3pm).

Outside centre Mat James is out for another fortnight with a dislocated shoulder but Rory McLean is set to return after a gashed head along with winger Paul McGlynn and centre Pete May, both rested at the weekend.

Saturday is the club vice president's day with a meal at noon.
