THIS year's Worcestershire Beacon Race was dominated by athletes from Stroud.
Andrew Gardner won the men's race, covering the course of almost seven miles in 41 minutes 35 seconds, 24 seconds ahead of reigning champion Bill Nock (Halesowen). Worcester Triathlon Club's Stuart Mills took third place in 45.32.
The ladies' prize went to fellow Stroud AC member Kate Goodhead in 52.18, with Celia Mills (Kenilworth) second in 1.01.25.
The event, organised by Worcester Athletic Club and sponsored by Brookhire, attracted over 200 runners, with the course taking runners over the top of Worcestershire Beacon, near Malvern.
Other results: Male veterans over 40, G.J. Summers (Pershore) 46.57; male over 50, Duncan Overton (Kendal) 47.14; male over 60, Brian Thorne (Stratford) 51.26; first local male, David Wilcox (Worcester) 47.03; team prize, Halesowen.
