BROMSGROVE U16s 60 Bridgnorth 19. Bromsgrove ran in ten tries to secure their fifth consecutive win. The game showed the positive open rugby that the U16s are capable of. Alex Cawston opened the scoring with a blistering run from a kick and he out-paced Bridgnorth's defence. Bromsgrove, playing uphill, attacked through the forwards and found holes in the opposition's defence which allowed them to score freely, ending the first half 33-7.

The second half saw Bromsgrove dominate with a further five tries and some strong individual performances by Max Davies, Matt Griffiths, Toni Cassamassa and Will Cadman. There were also great debut performances from Gavin Townsend and Andrew Boroughs. Try scorers were MoM Alex Cawston (three) Joe Baker (two) Pete Douglas (two), Toni Casamassa, Ollie Wells and Gavin Townsend. Joe Baker converted five tries.

Bromsgrove U15s 54 Silhillians 0. Bromsgrove made a convincing start in this first round match of the North Midlands Cup. Eight tries came at regular intervals as the forwards drove and supported superbly, with second rows Russell Ledger and Chris Mucklow rampant. Sils tried hard and were denied a certain score when centre James Hall cover tackled strongly. James Upton organised the back line and entertained spectators with his side stepping counter attacks. Try scorers were Chris Mucklow (two) James Upton (two), Sam Parish, Ben Stacey, James Hall and Russell Ledger. Martyn Hubbleday kicked all six of his conversion attempts with Robin Crawford adding one.

Bromsgrove U13s finished third in the Old Sils tournament. Bromsgrove performed well but produced a mixed set of results. Town played five matches, beating Birmingham/Solihull, Sils and Lichfield and losing to Rugby and Barker Butts. Against strong opposition town played some of their best rugby of the season in the forwards and behind the scrum. Everyone in the 19-man squad contributed to the performances but Tom Hughes led the way with four tries in less than three games. Unfortunately Tom was injured against Lichfield and missed the last two matches. In both games they lost town competed well but a loss of concentration and missed tackles cost them and proved how difficult it is to come from behind against good teams. The squad was Jon Cadman (one try), Chris Dearden, Simon Prior, Garreth Reusser, Tom Ilinks, Matthew Edgar, Matthew Newman, Myles Hession, Freddie Cowen, Simon Roberts, George Crook (one try), Scott Morris, Ben Raybould, Sam Schofield (one try), Tom Hughes (four tries), Matthew Newell, Tom Cole, Will Gormley and Matthew Hales.

Old Halesonians Colts 39 Droitwich Colts 5. Droitwich travelled to play a well organised and older Halesonians team, and despite the score line can take satisfaction from their performance. Their tackling was fearless throughout, and good back play was in evidence. The forwards worked tirelessly, but need to work on their ball retention and loose play. Despite being behind the Spa side still had the will to come back and score a consolation try through Dave Storey. For Droitwich, Matt Nicol had a good game, as did Mark Duggan and Stephen Poke. It was a brave effort all round from a team that is mainly under-17 and under-18.
