Garringtons Sunday (0) 2 Mayfly FC (1) 4

Redditch and South Warwickshire Combination Premier Division

THIS was a below-par Garringtons, showing no enthusiasm. Although the first 25 minutes was even, neither team looked like scoring until Mayfly were awarded a free-kick on the left. The ball was crossed to the back post for Matthew Hudson to head home.

The rest of this half was a drab affair but the second period was better. It wasn't long before Mayfly made it 2-0 when Garringtons' defence were caught flat-footed to let in Craig McSweeney to score.

On the hour Mayfly went 3-0 up after some good football around Garringtons' defence and Jon Ingram finished. In the 77th minute Ian Brown produced some good work down the left and crossed for Kevin Banner to score.

Garringtons were now playing something like their form of late and in the 87th minute Martin West played the ball down the left for Banner, who crossed for Matthew Blanuley to score on the volley.

With Garringtons pushing forward for the equaliser, Mayfly broke clear. Ingram hit the post and the rebound went to Dean Smart to knock into the empty net, just when Garringtons looked like snatching a point.
