SPARTAK turned in another dreadful performance on Saturday, with only a handful a players coming out of the game with any credit.

New signing from Droitwich Sports Mark Johnston was outstanding at the back. Spartak played some good football in the opening 15 minutes and were well on top. But it was Earlswood who took the lead on 28 minutes when Peter Jones headed over oncoming Spartak keeper Mark Kelly.

Dilaor Miah, who caused Town problems all afternoon, was bought down for a penalty on 44 minutes. Miah dusted himself down and beat Peter Maguire easily from the spot.

The second 45 minutes produced no further goals, mainly due to some outstanding saves from Kelly. Simon Pinfield headed home a Mark Uddin corner on 98 minutes to put Spartak 2-1 up. Just when it looked like Spartak had booked a third round slot, up popped a Town substitute to make it 2-2 with three minutes to go.

The penalty shootout saw Maguire save two and see one go wide for town to win 3-0 and condemn Spartak to their eighth straight shoot out defeat on the trot.
