AN unclassified Bromsgrove road which is used as a "very long stay" car park could be blocked up.

The land at Old Stratford Road, next to Bromsgrove Golf Centre, is managed by Worcestershire County Council which recommended the centre apply to Bromsgrove District Council to "stop-up" the land.

At its executive cabinet meeting in September, members deferred a decision until they had more information about how cars would leave the golf centre.

A statement from the applicant's solicitors, which will be presented to tonight's meeting of the executive cabinet, said: "It is not proposed that there should be any alteration to the existing access arrangements to the golf club at the present time.

"The principal problem with the existing highway is its improper use as a very long stay vehicle park."

If a stopping-up order is made, the centre is hoping to submit a planning application to improve the exit onto the roundabout.

Members look set to say they have no objection to the plan.
