CONCERNS are growing over marketing methods being used to promote a Government adult learning initiative in Redditch.

Company representatives have approached townspeople in the street and door-to-door as providers who offer courses as part of a Government initiative called Individual Learning Accounts.

The scheme offers 80 per cent off any course of their choice up to a maximum of £200.

After filling in forms, subscribers are sent a card bearing a number which they are asked to quote over the telephone before being sent a CD ROM.

But a spokesman for MP Jacqui Smith said CD ROMs had been sent to people without computers, with no support given and little choice offered over what course they wish to study.
