A DRIVER who was responsible for a crash in Studley in which one of his passengers was killed has appeared before a Judge at Warwick Crown Court.

The case of Darren Hudson had been listed only for a preliminary hearing, but his barrister Stephen Thomas asked for the indictment to be put to him.

And Hudson, aged 23, of Astley Close, Woodrow North, then pleaded guilty to causing the death of 31-year-old John Tomlinson by dangerous driving.

Mr Tomlinson, of Kenilworth Close, Crabbs Cross, died after Hudson's Ford Escort, in which he was a rear seat passenger, crashed on the A448 in Studley at about 9.45pm on a Monday evening in April.

At Mr Thomas's request, the hearing was adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared on Hudson.

He was granted bail by Judge Richard Cole who warned him that was not to be taken as an indication of the sentence he was likely to receive.
