Southam took advantage of a disorganised defence and scored within a minute to leave the visitors reeling.
Defender Kate Saint and captain Sam Tayler took charge and despite further attempts at goal, Redditch thwarted the hosts.
Redditch made the breakthrough when a perfectly-placed Rachel Hopkins through-ball found Mandy Ellicott who fired a low-angled drive past the keeper.
A further goal for Redditch came when, unchecked, Natalie Lawrence ran onto an Ellicott pass and carefully out-manoeuvred Southam's keeper.
The second half reaped no further rewards for Redditch. Player of the match: Vicky Bell.
Redditch firsts play the Reserves in a charity match at the Abbey Stadium on Sunday (ko 2pm).
