THE bus firm which stepped in to take over a number of services due to be scrapped by First Midland Red will be offering passengers a weekly travel pass until Christmas.

Pete's Travel will be operating a 177/178/179 Redditch to Birmingham route, via the Alexandra Hospital, and a 61a Town Centre to Matchborough route from Monday, October 29.

The news comes after concerns Reddicards, accepted by the town's main bus operator First Midland Red, could not be used on Pete's Travel buses.

Mr Bagnall said because of the sudden take-over, plans for travel cards would be looked at and reviewed in the future.

The firm has recruited a number of new drivers after announcing it had secured premises at Weights Farm in Bordesley.

Timetables have been confirmed by Worcestershire County Council.

But in the meantime Mr Bagnall said the firm would display and post timetables to people and sell weekly passes on buses.

First Midland Red will be accepting Pete's Travel bus tickets on the early 61/62 services and Sunday services.
