FORMER airborne soldiers from Redditch are to lead the parade to the Cenotaph in London on Remembrance Sunday.
The Redditch branch of the Parachute Regimental Association will lead thousands of veterans at the ceremony in Whitehall next month.
Each year, a different association heads the parade so it will be the first time the town branch will not be able to attend the Redditch ceremony.
The branch has 14 members at the moment, including Second World War veterans, and most will be travelling to London with wives and partners on the day.
Mr Tansley served in the 7th Parachute Regiment RHA from 1957-64 and saw postings in Cyprus and Bahrain.
The branch recently returned from France, where they celebrated St Michael's Day with the Amicale Parachutiste de Vitry-Le-Francois, an equivalent parachute association.
Any ex-soldiers in Redditch interested in joining the London trip can ring Barry Tansley on 401914.
The branch meets on the first Wednesday of every month at the Bridley Moor and Batchley Social Club at 8pm. New members are welcome.
