ASTON Villa have admitted manager John Gregory is tracking Parma's French international Johan Micoud -- but insist reports claiming he is close to signing on loan until the end of the season are "premature."
Gregory has drawn up a hit-list of possible targets and admitted his interest in Micoud after Sunday's 2-0 home success over Fulham.
But club secretary Steve Stride is adamant no deal has been tied up for the player who was part of France's squad for their 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 triumphs.
Stride said: "John Gregory's view is that Micoud is one of many players that we are keeping tabs on. But there's nothing imminent."
Meanwhile, Hereford-based Pegasus Juniors suffered a 1-0 home defeat against Carterton Town in the second round of the Hellenic League Floodlight Cup last night.
