CASH was stolen from two Kidderminster homes by burglars posing as water engineers in separate raids on Friday night.
Thieves escaped with £1,110 after entering warden-controlled flats at Lucy Edwards Court in Sutton Road at about 9.30pm and talking their way into the home of a woman in her 80s.
They claimed "there has been a leak", and one distracted her while the other searched her home.
In a raid about an hour earlier - which police say is unconnected - £60 was taken from a bedside table by a man who broke into a Tennyson Way house.
After being challenged by his victim, also a woman in her 80s, in the hallway the man - described as about 5 ft 7ins, of slight build with mousy hair, wearing a grey check shirt - said: "I've come to turn your water off."
One of the Sutton Road burglars was 5 ft 2 ins, with a dark complexion, dark hair and clean shaven while the other was taller with fair hair.
Anyone with information should call Kidderminster Police on 01562 820888.
