PATIENTS in Wyre Forest are to benefit from a £300 million Government cash handout aimed at tackling "bed blocking".
Under the scheme, Worcestershire County Council will receive £713,000 over two years to improve social care services for pensioner patients on leaving hospital.
The scheme will allow more than 2,000 older people to leave hospital earlier after treatment, freeing up 1,000 NHS beds this year alone.
