FIREFIGHTERS joined a Wyre Forest county councillor at a memorial service for the New York firefighters lost in last month's terrorist atrocities.
Worcestershire county councillor Stephen Clee, portfolio holder for cultural and community social inclusion and community safety and a member of the Hereford and Worcester Combined Fire Authority, went with 30 county firefighters to the service at St Paul's Cathedral in London.
The Chaddesley member said of last Thursday's event: "The most telling moment was when the Fireman's Prayer was read which spoke about the dedication of firefighters and the willingness to risk their lives. Words cannot explain the emotion in that prayer.
"The UK's fire service responded immediately to the disaster and I was immensely proud to have been given the opportunity to represent Worcestershire at this event."
