BEEN THERE DONE THAT: A sale of tack and horse accessories took place on October 1 at the village hall in Windmill Lane, Temple Grafton. Wednesday evening, October 3, a sale of over 300 lots of ships furniture and many other interesting lots took place at Bidford Emporium, viewing took place earlier in the day enticing many dealers and others to look round. On October 6, a rummage sale took place at the church hall, Bidford to raise funds for the St John's Ambulance lots of bric a brac and objects d'art sorted by many willing hands. Also on Saturday a coffee morning was held at Dunnington Baptist Chapel Hall to raise funds for Guide Dogs for the Blind with toys, plants and book stalls. On Saturday afternoon a rummage sale was held at Exhall village hall lots more bric a brac and object d'art. Last Sunday Mary Arden's House at Wilmcote had its annual apple day. Lashings of old varieties of apples on show and many rural crafts among them were Morris men, medieval musicians, Punch and Judy and Falconry together with 'Squire' Cook the cane chair restorer and our own local Bidford thatcher Pip Handy. John Edgeley the apple expert was on hand and a host of wood turners, basket makers and many others. Mary Arden's house is quite interesting and the players and musicians gave a real aura of Shakespearean days the weather was nice but turned a little inclement later in the day. Also on Sunday, St Laurence's Church, Bidford held its Harvest Festival the church expertly festooned with flowers and produce was a joy to see and the service was enjoyed by one and all.
