CHILDREN from St Mary's RC Primary School in Broadway were on hand to see history unearthed at a dig in Childswickham.
The youngsters were invited by the county archaeology service to visit the site and see what was going on
School secretary Caroline Lucas said: "The children are looking at the Roman period in their history lessons and this visit fitted in nicely with what they are doing."
She explained: "They had a talk from one of the archaeologists on site and were shown a variety of objects already unearthed.
"They then went on to the dig itself and while they were there saw a piece of decorated pottery unearthed.
"It was really exciting."
Since the visit, the pupils have been discussing the importance of the site and the dig in their lessons.
