SOCCER-mad youngsters in Droitwich were put through their paces on a brand new pitch.
The £15,000 five-a-side football facility at the town's Lido Park was netted thanks to Wychavon District Council.
Councillor Don Lawley officially opened the newly resurfaced pitch and passed on a few skills to the junior football fanatics.
Previously keen young players wanting to develop their passing and dribbling had to share the facility with a tennis court.
But now basketball, tennis and football provisions have all been separated, giving a greater enjoyment for everyone.
The re-marked pitch, has a half basketball court on either end and surrounding kickboards and a wooden viewing area, which can be used for seating.
"I hope youngsters will enjoy the new football facility which is free to use and will treat it with respect so it remains a quality provision for all," said Lynn Stevens, Wychavon's parks officer.
