THE foot and mouth disease and many of its consequences was the theme for the address, given by Reverend Chris Moss, at the harvest songs of praise held at St Peter's Church on Sunday. The village suffered no direct cases of this disease but many local sheep were culled and rural life changed. The service consisted of eight hymns and seven readings and the collection taken was for the Addington Farmers' Fund. Also donations of any goods was given to the Salvation Army. The church was decorated in beautiful autumn flowers and fruits of the harvest and hedgerows. After the service between 50 and 60 people attended a harvest tea in the Village Hall. Vicky Fowkes and Jane Crowther were chief caterers with quite a few helpers and thanks to them all for their efforts.
