UPTON Motosports are set to stage the final round of the IMBA championship at their Bromsberrow track this weekend when many leading European riders will be action.
With no world championship round being staged in the UK this year this event is a chance to see the cream of Europe.
The IMBA championship is staged over eight European countries and teams are expected from; Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Germany, France, Switzerland, Czechoslovakia, Italy and Great Britain.
The championship is still to be decided with Bengt Laeremans of Belgium leading but he can be overtaken by fellow countryman Danny Wauters. However all eyes will be on James Cumber from Thornbury who will lead the Great Britain team. James currently in fourth place is on top form having swept the board at the recent Uley meeting staged at Nymphsfield.
Simon Gower from Stourbridge on the Wildmoor KTM may cause a few surprises as he is known to be a sand specialist and likes the Bromsberrow circuit.
The Upton Club are also staging a superclass round on the Sunday where the top AMCA riders will compete together. Simon Lane of the home club who recently finished fourth in the 125cc IMBA will be out for a win but will have severe competition from Gary Davies on the Cradley Kawasaki and Jason Lewis from the Ross on Wye Club.
Also supporting the IMBA round will be a Wessex Centre expert invitation class. Local interest will be on Dave Cale from Malvern who during the week can be seen assembling Morgan cars.
On the Saturday, junior, senior and veteran classes are being run. Many competitors are entered for the veterans over 40 race and this could be the highlight of the weekend.
Admission before 3pm on Saturday is £3 whilst Sunday's admission is £5. Concessions apply for children and OAPs. Action starts at 11am on Saturday and 10am on Sunday.
The Upton Club are hoping for a large turnout to support our British riders and hope that a British rider is on top of the podium with the champagne at the end of the meeting.
The track is signposted from junction two of the M50.
