MALVERN Sea Cadets are steeling themselves for a new challenge, to collect all the aluminium they can find.
The group has launched a joint campaign from its Spring Lane South headquarters with Worcestershire County Council and Alupro, a recycling company.
The cadets have pledged to collect and bale as many aluminium cans as they can, and pass them over to Alupro, who will pay them and recycle the metal.
Chairman Bob Thomas explained: "Not only will this help the environment, it will facilitate funding for the cadets, and raise the profile of the organisation.
"Ninety-five per cent of the energy used in processing aluminium can be saved through recycling, and we have launched the campaign to tie in with National Waste Month.
"But it will also help bring people to the base so they can see for themselves how much we have to offer young people in the community."
