NEIL Mogford was the Town hero on Tuesday night, when his second half hat-trick marked a remarkable turnaround for Malvern, who trailed by two goals at the interval.
BROMYARD TOWN 2, MALVERN TOWN 3
Mogford's intervention means that Town have picked up 16 Express and Star Premier Division points out of a possible 18 and are now in sniping distance of the leading clubs with games in hand.
Town were always the more composed side on the night but poor defending saw them concede two first half goals.
A botched attempt to play off side let in Lee Seldon after 15 minutes and after 33 minutes loss of possession and a square back line, this time enabled Rick Halion to put his side two up.
Town were not without their moments during the first half though and Jamie Lambert, in the home goal, brilliantly tipped over a Keith Holmans free kick and then produced an outstanding double save to deny Mogford.
The second half saw Town begin with renewed purpose and it was Steve Walker whose superb 46th minute cross was met brilliantly by Mogford who powered in a header to put Malvern back in the frame.
Just five minutes later Malvern were level and this time Mogford stabbed the ball home from close range after Phil Slade's effort was cleared off the line.
Malvern now pushed forward in droves and Lambert again denied Holmans from a free kick and Slade twice missed having established good positions. Mogford saw another effort well saved as did Saturday's hat-trick hero Chris Thomas, but an inevitable third goal came in the 69th minute.
Steve Walker lofted a ball into the Bromyard box and whilst the home defence stood statuesque, Mogford gleefully nipped in to register his hat-trick and his side's winner.
In the last minute Town keeper Dave Alden let the ball slip from his grasp but Town skipper Dave Damore deflected Willetts effort away for a corner.
Town assistant manager Richard Anson commented after the game: "We did not play that badly in the first half, but we responded in the second half and the players deserve credit for that."
"We were also delighted for Neil, he is a super lad with a fantastic attitude and is learning quickly, he still has a bit to do, but we will settle for his contribution on Tuesday!"
