REDS full back Ian Mitchell has urged the club to write to the FA urging them not to let Wolverhampton official Gurnam Singh referee any more of their matches.

Mitchell was incensed by the refree's performance as Redditch lost 2-1 in extra time and were reduced to nine men.

"I've never been sent off but I came very close on Tuesday," said Mitchell.

"Gary Piggott put in a disgraceful two-footed challenge to our keeper's chest and while Matt was grounded another of their lads scored.

"Even their directors said it was a disgraceful challenge.

"Singh booked four players, two from each side, in the first 20 minutes and there wasn't one bad challenge.

"I can honestly say I've never seen a worse refereeing performance in my life.

"You can't help but think it's personal and I've urged Rod Laight to write a complaint to the FA."

Singh dismissed Jones late on in normal time before sending off Andy Bradley five minutes from the end of the extra period.

Mitchell is desperate for a place in the starting line up at rivals Solihull Borough on Saturday.

He is out to prove a point after being dropped by Dave Busst and joining Redditch a year ago.

Defender Tommy Byrne's injury nightmare continued with a suspected torn hamstring on Tuesday which could mean another extended spell on the sidelines.
