THERE was a buzz of excitement across Worcester City Football Club as fans were handed leaflets carrying news of a B&Q-backed new stadium.
More than 750 of the leaflets were handed out at St George's Lane, where supporters seemed overwhelmingly in favour of a new home for the blue and whites.
The club's followers were urged to phone and e-mail Worcester city councillors, to register their support for the scheme.
Fans were not only treated to a 4-2 win against Tiverton Town FC, but also given hope of a ground fit for the Football League.
"There were over 1,000 fans at the ground and the reaction received from the leaflets was very much in favour of a move, said City official Brian Lancaster.
Supporters have said they will definitely contact their councillors and will e-mail their friends with this great news. Everyone here feels a real buzz of excitement. With our canvassing and the article in the Evening News our fans have definitely been put in the picture."
