FORMER Evesham United forward, Johnny Hancock, was a visitor to Common Road last month when he presented the club with an old photograph of the 1954 Evesham Town squad.
Now aged 70 and living in Broadway, Johnny joined The Robins as that same year when his goalscoring skills earned him a trial at Villa Park.
He went on to play for the second team in front of crowds of around 10,000 but never made the senior side. "The club had some great players and it was terribly hard to break through," he admitted.
He earned £12 per week - a wage supplemented by his earnings as a builder, a job he undertook until retirement five years ago. "Playing football was easier," Johnny added.
He then became a Class One referee before bowing out of the game and concentrating business.
