Harriers started with an attacking 4-3-3 formation with Foster, Larkin and Broughton up front,
They started confidently and York centre-back Smith had to head off the line on six minutes when keeper Fettis was caught stranded on the edge of his area as Blake launched a 30-yard lob. Drewe Broughton
Larkin missed a great chance two minutes later when Broughton released the speedy striker in a swift counter-attack but the advancing Fettis blocked his shot well.
Williams was cautioned soon after for a foul on Cooper just outside the Harriers penalty area.
Harriers defended the free kick successfully before midfielder Bennett came close on 11 minutes when his left-footed half-volley from the edge of the area was tipped over the bar by Fettis.
But Harriers took the lead on 13 minutes with a well-worked move.
Bennett intelligently ran into space on the right and laid the ball back for Foster to sweep over a tremendous cross which an unmarked Broughton headed home at the far post.
It was the big striker's first goal of the season after a long wait.
Harriers increased the pressure and Fettis had to palm away a dangerous right-wing cross from on-loan Larkin on 17 minutes.
