THE memory of a town boy killed by cancer will live on at a Droitwich Spa school which has dedicated a garden to his life.
Alistair Wainwright died of a brain tumour last year aged six.
The Chawson First School pupil has been honoured by his pals and teachers who have planted an oak tree and bought two benches to create Alistair's Corner.
The Rev Sheila Banyard blessed the area and children from years three and four sang March in the Light of God.
Chawson's acting headteacher, Eleanor Sinton, said: "Cash for the quiet area was raised by children who participated in a non-uniform day and from school funds.
"We hope the oak tree will be around for hundreds of years - it's a present to the future in memory of Alistair."
His parents, Debi and Nigel Wainwright, of Charles Dickens Close, and their young daughter were invited to the ceremony.
Debi said: "My strongest memory of the day was that the children still have Alistair very much in their hearts."
The couple launched Alistair's Appeal to raise money for research into brain tumours and have already collected nearly £20,000.
