THIS game was only a friendly but turned out to be a bit of a grudge match.
Town captain Erica Bond received a call from Stourport's captain suggesting she was undecided as to whether she wanted to 'waste' first team players on a Bromsgrove side.
As such, everyone of Bond's girls played out of their skin. Nicky Bayliss marked her attacker out of the game while Justine Postones and June Taylor commanded their D, although there was good movement from the dangerous Stourport attack which resulted in their first goal.
Player of the match Becky Southwell equalised from a short corner deflection which gave her the luxury of an open goal. Stourport came back with a penalty flick.
This wasn't converted properly due to an excellent save by keeper Ang Burnet. But, much to her annoyance, the goal was duly allowed. Not too disheartened, sound midfield work by Claire Brookes and Bond enabled Lyndsey Hynde to push home and equalise for a second time.
This wasn't the overall result Bromsgrove wanted but under difficult circumstances it was a good match and all of the team showed excellent spirit.
