COUNCILLORS in Redditch are to meet disgruntled supporters of the town's theatre following a clash over ticket sales this week.
Members of The Palace's League of Friends pressed the council to stop selling tickets at the information centre which they claim is 'the poorest possible substitute' for the box office.
But councillors rejected the suggestion of transferring ticket sales and information office work to the theatre.
Instead, the council plan to continue the present system for selling vouchers for tickets at The Palace box office until after Christmas.
Visitors to the box office can buy vouchers for a seat at a performance which is then exchanged on the night.
The experiment was introduced in June after staff shortages and restricted opening hours at the theatre box office limited the purchase of tickets.
But in a letter to the amenities committee, the league of friends warned that sales will drop if the arrangement continued.
