Berkswell & Balsall 22 Woodrush 0
WOODRUSH are still without a win despite a valiant effort at Berkswell & Balsall.
Trailing by just three points at the turn, Woodrush were optimistic about the second half, having had their fair share of the action in the first.
But five minutes into the second half they lost the services of scrum half Toby Smith with a back injury. This necessitated a move for 41-year-old hooker Jeff Hughes to take his place, a role he last played in his more streamlined youth.
This resulted in several other changes and left Woodrush in disarray and they were caught on the hop by Berkswell who quickly took advantage, scoring an unconverted try.
Woodrush were not able to settle after this and Berkswell ran in a further two tries, both of which were converted although they defended resolutely to keep the score to a minimum.
This Saturday Woodrush entertain fellow strugglers Kings Norton, ko 3pm.
