DROITWICH First XV recorded their second league win of the season on Saturday.
They had been forced into a late change which saw Sasha Hobbs move to fly-half and the versatile Gareth Knight move into the centre.
Both packs started well with the play congested in the middle of the field.
Kings Norton attacked in the Droitwich 22 but wing Rob McClean intercepted to run the ball back under the home sides posts. Ben Cottrell added the extra two points.
Kings Norton came back at Droitwich straight away after creating an overlap and scored in the corner to bring the score to 5-7.
More good work by the Droitwich forwards saw Will Kirton throw a dummy and run through the defence. He then fed McClean who raced to score in the corner and extend the lead to 5-12.
A late first half penalty for the home side brought the score to 8-12 at half time. In the second half the Droitwich pack began to dominate the line-out with Phil Hobbs and Ian Craig combining well to set up Sasha Hobbs to kick through the defence. He followed up to gather the ball and score near the posts.
Cottrell's conversion made it 8-19. Sound defence by Johnny Andrews and Knight in the centre prevented the home side from getting back in the game.
Kings Norton almost scored, but an excellent tackle by full back Cottrell stopped the home winger short of the line.
Droitwich's tackling caused the home side to drop the ball and McClean picked it up, kicked ahead and was first to the ball to score in the corner.
More mistakes in the last minute of the game saw McClean again pick up a dropped ball and race the defence to go over in the corner and finish the game.
Droitwich Seconds also came out top at home to Kings Norton winning 81-0, with prop Ian Williams bagging five tries.
Droitwich Thirds won away to make it a clean sweep for the Hanbury Road club.
