MARVELLOUS Merlin won their eighth Division Two match in a row after a battling 2-1 triumph over Bromsgrove General on Sunday.
Merlin had the better of the first half and could have been three up by half-time. In the end they had to settle for a 1-0 half-time lead through a Justin Evans goal.
They made other chances and Lee Jones hit the bar with a dipping shot as General were limited to long range shots by Merlin's impressive defence.
The second-half saw General come into the game more but Merlin's defence held out and they always looked dangerous on the attack. Merlin introduced new signing from Turks Head, Alan Holdom, who has returned to the club. It was from his brilliant cross which saw Pete Dipple head in to make it 2-0.
General got a goal back with about ten minutes to go through Bradley Holmes but Merlin held on to keep their 100 per cent record intact. Merlin man of the match was Justin Evans.
