THE visitors opened much stronger than Town who were slow off the blocks and unable to string any passes together.

The only Town effort worthy of note in the first 20 minutes was a fierce Duncan McLeod volley which flew inches over.

Town, nevertheless, took the lead somewhat against the run of play shortly after when free-kick expert Gary Morgan curled a beauty over Scott Griffin in the Mostyn goal.

This gave Town more confidence, but Mostyn's endeavour also increased and they soon equalised through Andrew Swickay to set up a combative second half where both teams battled.

Mostyn put Town under great pressure, but Adam Pincher, Lee Crawford and Joe Newbold played with the composure they had last week and Mostyn's attempts to get the ball over the top came to nothing.

Newbold was particularly calm in dealing with Andy Pratt who became increasingly frustrated at the lack of space.

The addition of Carl Gray added a new dimension to Town's attacking forays and his selfless running and tracking back enabled Town to weather the onslaught and provide Mostyn with problems of their own.

Whilst Mostyn had a great deal of possession, little was produced, whereas Town looked more likely to score when attacking. It was from one such attack that Darren Turk drilled a drive low in at the far post from the edge of the box which Griffin could only admire as it nestled in the back of the net.

Mostyn would not lie down, but the closest they came to reducing the arrears was a powerful header from Dave Cannon which whistled over the bar. Town had chances at the other end but failed to capitalise on them.

The introduction of Peter Dutton in a cameo role with 20 minutes to go was pleasing on the eye. It was his first outing in over a year after partying in Australia.
