BEWDLEY matchman Stan James continued his good run on Tuesday by topping the Starlets Veterans contest on Woodlands Views Arles pool, staked on peg 14.
Out of the wind he long poled maggots and casters for 45-1-0.
Bill Drew (Bewdley) was at next door peg 13 and he took second place with 31-0-0, third Mike Millinchip (Kidderminster) 21-5-0.
On Wednesday the Astwood Fisheries Bluebell pool open was won by Dave James (Astwood) who pole fished corn and worms at ten metres from peg 7 for 45-5-0. Second was Mark Roberson (DAC Mosella) 36-8-0, third John Halfpenny (Astwood) 29-5-0.
The Moorlands Farm Meadow pool open saw Mark Tooze (Leehall) in top spot at peg 38 with 93-0-0 of carp caught at five metres with pole and corn. Second Alan Higgs (Moorlands) 73-5-0, third Bob Jones (Moorlands) 71-10-0.
On Thursday the Starlets Veterans gave Broad Acres new silverfish pool a try but surprisingly the majority of fish that were caught turned out to be small carp and tench.
It was Alan Ryan (Worcester) that had 7-5-0 of them for first place by pole fishing maggots and pinkies from peg 10, Harold Willey (Kidderminster) was second with 5-9-0, third Phil Hill (Redditch) 4-11-0.
Moorlands Farm's Thursday special cost cutter open was held on the Bank and Meadow pools with the Bank pool producing the top catches, headed by Terry King (Greenman) who took a ton up bag of 121-0-0 from peg 20 with short pole fished corn, Mark Tooze (Leehall) just missed the double with 102-9-0, third Bill Drew (Bewdley) 89-2-0.
Fridays Moorlands Farm cost cutter open was held on the Bank pool with Jon Newton (Redditch) taking a close verdict with a pole, corn and pellet catch of 74-10-0 from peg 7, second Steve Woodhall (Tewkesbury) 68-7-0, third Bill Drew (Bewdley) 67-14-0.
On Saturday the Meadow Pool open saw another close result, headed by Dave Hinton (MAP Starlets) with a pole, corn and caster catch of 86-1-0 from peg 29, second Darren Clewley (Team Wesson) 84-14-0, third Lee Nutland (Mosella) 84-5-0.
Rubery matchman Keith Woodhead (Ovation Leisure) topped the Ovation Leisure open for the second week in succession at Lower Broadheaths Sycamore pool, staked at peg one. He pole fished corn for a 41-14-0 mixed catch. Chris Newton (Redditch) took the runners up spot with 32-1-0, third Graham Upton (Athol AC) 26-2-0.
Seven teams of six took part in the first round of the Woodlands View winter league and there were some good catches recorded, headed by Chris Hill fishing for (Inovation "6") with 111-15-0 taken with short pole and casters from high pool peg 17.
Steve Pickup (Jocks SP) was second with 104-0-0, third Andy Sutton (CSM) 87-0-0. Top team were Inovation "6" with 26 points followed by Woodlands B with 23, Oxford Drennan 20.
Sunday's Woodlands View open was held on Deans pool with Paul Sibley (Woodlands) taking a top catch 105-9-0 with pole and caster from peg 55. Second Alistair Chisholm (FAPS) 88-1-0, third Steve Seabourne (Fox Match Hereford) 71-3-0.
Astwood Fisheries Bluebell pool open gave Lee Harber (Reservoir Dogs) an easy victory by pole fishing casters and corn at peg 8 for 51-0-0.
Doug Bennett (Hewell Road) followed with 28-4-0, third Gary Mole (Stevens Tackle) 24-4-0.
Les Thompson was first at Moorlands Farm with a pole worm and caster carp haul of 111-4-0 from Meadow peg 16. Chris Hill (Fosters MG) was second with 79-15-0, third Neil McKinnon (Shakespeare) 78-6-0.
Birmingham Civil Service AC fished their annual contest at Elmdon pool which saw Sheldon angler Mick Palfrey take a close verdict by pole fishing bread flak at peg four for 29-14-0. Second was Darran Mills 29-3-0, third Dave Hicken 24-3-0.
Rubery Club, Hawthorns AC fished its event on the Birmingham Worcester Canal at Hanbury with Mick Smith from Rubery fishing a peg, down from the road bridge, a few pegs past the bay where pole fished red maggots taking seven bream late in the match for a top 13-9-0 catch.

A note for the diary -- the Geers winter league for teams of four takes place on the Stratford Canal at Earlswood on Saturdays: January 19, February 2/16 and March 2/16 with bloodworm and joker allowed.
